Private school is expensive; public school is free (or paid for already). The cost below does not include private school fees that often add up to thousands of dollars on top of the tuition. Big fees often exceeding $500 include new student enrollment, books, technology, and class trips. For a small fee, most schools allow tuition to be paid over the course of a school year in regular installments.
Regardless of grade level, private school tuition on average will set families back about $19,079 a year per child. At an average of $14,584, Catholic school tuition is a relative bargain at approximately 30% lower than non-Catholic schools. Annual tuition increases average 3 to 5%.
